On April 30, 2008 Beijing Day Trips went on a Wild Wall Exploration day trip to discover alternative hike routes at the Great Wall at Jiankou as well as the different back sides of the Great Wall at Mutianyu.

On April 28 Beijing Day Trips took 3 people on a day trip to the Summer Palace.

The boat took us along the Imperial Canal to the pittoresk South Gate of the Summer Palace; from there we followed the West shore of the lake and had a sandwich lunch at the shore with a bottle of chilled Chardonnay.
In the Summer Palace we visited the famous sights such as the Marble Boat and of course the Long Corridor. Via the Olympic Green we returned to the hotel.

We had a sandwich lunch at the ruins of one of the watch towers along the way.
Via the Olympic Green we drove back to Beijing.

On April 14, 2008 Beijing Day Trips took 2 persons on a day trip to the Great Wall at Mutianyu.

After our visit to Mutianyu Great Wall we went for a jiaozi (Chinese dumplings) lunch in Huairou.

On April 9, 2008 Beijing Day Trips took 2 persons on a day trip to the Great Wall at Jiankou for the 5km hike along the Wild Wall.

It was a perfect time of the year as the wild peach blossom was blooming, “covering” the Wall with a pink blanket!

On our way back to Beijing we drove via the Olympic Green to see the Bird’s Nest (National Stadium), the Water Cube (National Aquatics Center), the National Fencing Gymnasium and the National Indoor Stadium from up close. Via the construction site of the new CCTV Tower (a design by Rem Koolhaas’ OMA) we returned to the hotel.

On March 29 Beijing Day Trips took 2 people on a day trip to the Great Wall at Huanghua for a hike. We had packed sandwich lunch at one of the many watch towers.

Originally we scheduled to go to Jiankou Great Wall, but weather conditions made it impossible to go there. On Huanghua Great Wall we saw the Wild Wall covered in snow! Please have a look at the beautiful picture below, click on it and you will go to the album of this day.

After the visit to the Great Wall we drove via the Olympic Green to catch a glimpse of the Olympic Stadiums, such as the Bird’s Nest (National Stadium), the recently opened Water Cube (National Aquatics Center) and the National Fencing Gymnasium.

We dropped the clients off at the Summer Palace so they could visit the Marble Boat and the Long Corridor in their own time.
