Beijing Day Trips - Great Wall at Juyongguan

If you don’t have a lot of time, but still want to see the Great Wall at a place that still resembles the Great Wall and not a market overrun by tourists, then the Great Wall at Juyongguan is a great alternative.

The Great Wall at Juyongguan is actually closest by Beijing, a mere hour drive and is located South of the Badaling section.

What makes the Great Wall at Juyongguan interesting is that this section of the Great Wall is a fortress that served as a gate to the wilds beyond the Wall during the Ming Dynasty. It is less crowded than Badaling but more recently restored.

After arrival you can explore the Juyongguan Great Wall in both directions, however we recommend turning right as it is less crowded. There is also a nice teahouse in one of the watch towers where you can have a rest and enjoy the surroundings with a nice cup of tea.

In the afternoon you will still have some time to do other things in Beijing, like shopping or seeing some of the beautiful historic sites in Beijing!

We can take any number of people on this trip and at any day of the week. For your convenience we will pick you up at your hotel; recommendable pick up time is between 7am and 8am.
