About
Beijing Day Trips is an initiative of Piet Bos. In the Summer of 1998 he came to China working as a tour leader, taking groups of tourists around China in a month at a time.
Even after moving to Beijing at the end of 1999, he stayed somehow active in tour leading and tourism by organizing day- and weekend trips for groups of people living in Beijing to Inner Mongolia, the Summer Palace, the Great Wall, Beidaihe and other places in the proximity of Beijing.
At the end of 2006 Piet set up Beijing Day Trips offering day trips to sights in Beijing that you normally wouldn’t find so easy (if at all…).
After a good 2007 season and a fantastic first half of season 2008, end of July 2008 Piet received the news that due to strict Olympic regulations he was no longer able to apply for an extension of his residence permit and working visa for China. That has lead to his decision to leave China after 10 years and move on to Spain, where he will set up Valencia Day Trips and day trips in the South of Spain.
Due to the fact that selling a company without a real infrastructure is pretty difficult, Piet has decided that the best solution is to turn Beijing Day Trips into an “open source” project. This means that from now on the website Beijing Day Trips offers detailed information about unique and exclusive day trips in an around Beijing instead of offering the actual trips.
Apart from being fluent in English and Dutch, Piet also speaks German and Mandarin and he is currently studying Spanish.
Creativity, thinking out-of-the-box, service and personal attention are some of Piet’s strong points and we think that with the current online information we can make your stay in Beijing a more memorable one!
